Gearing Up for Spring Breakers

If you're like me and have been following the hype over Harmony Korine's new movie Spring Breakers (the story four college-aged girls that go on a spring break trip to Florida and fall into some violent trouble with the law), then you know all about how undoubtably great it's about to be. With the many random quirks that have surrounded its production, it's definitely shaping up to be one of the most talked about movies of the year. But in case you're not up-to-date on the amazing details of the making of this film, here's a short list of things that are going to propel it to its full glory once it hits theaters on March 22.
  • The image makeover of nearly-forgotten Disney Channel stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens
  • James Franco will be appearing as some sort of Riff-Raff-inspired rapper/crime lord
  • Rapper Gucci Mane will be a featured actor (and will also appear on the soundtrack)
  • The soundtrack is comprised of songs that have been hand-picked by none other than famed DJ/producer Skrillex. It includes some of Skrillex's original mixes and tracks from the likes of Waka Flocka Flame and Meek Mill (Pitchfork just reviewed it, giving it an impressive 7.6)
And if that isn't enough to get you to hyped up to go out and see the movie, then here's one final factoid that should do the trick: crude rumors have been circulating that Selena Gomez cheated on her now ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, with Gucci Mane while filming Spring Breakers [honestly, this is one of the most hilarious Hollywood rumors I've ever heard].

There. That's every reason you need to get just as excited as I am to experience this film a week from now. And while I know that a week is a long time some of us fanatics and nuts to wait, our anticipation can be fed by watching the trailer over and over and blasting the newly-released soundtrack through our speakers.

BIKINIS AND BIG BOOTYS Y'ALL

THAT'S WHAT LIFE IS ABOUT

P.S. I forgot to mention that James Franco is a featured rapper on the soundtrack. Now this can't get any better.
